Is a professional human still needed

Here are a few insights on my interactions with clients that already use AI:

  1. In my first conversation with clients(or potential clients), I make it clear that preparation for our professional meetings (for legal advice) is advisable - and the use of AI is legitimate as well- as long as they back it up with professional advice.

  2. I learned in the pre AI era , that clients that know the basic legal arena in which their issue exists - can better communicate to me what the issue is and what they would like to achieve as far as legal advice.

  3. At times clients that read the legal back round on one of the AI platforms- will argue on a legal issue. At such instances I usually answer that I think differently - but that I will check and revert to them with an answer.

  4. My job within the legal advise sessions is to:

    a. Learn the facts by listening and asking questions.

    b. Learn the interests of all parties (according to the client)

    c. Ask any questions that the client might have neglected to ask himself

    d. Play devils advocate - challenge the client's answers- so that the client can test them and make sure they are still relevant.

    e. offer the client new angles to view the issues- at times out of the box ones (such as- "Did you calculate your investment in legal procedures verses directing the funds and energies into future endeavors".

    f. I offer the client sincere compassion and understanding of their challenges - but if I think that their reasons for seeking legal procedures are incorrect for their own good or for other reasons- I share it with them as well(yes- this can cause some not to want to continue to work with me :) ).

  5. Can a client do all of the above by themselves? The better they are at prompting the AI platform- the larger the chances are that they will cover many of the points. The trickier part is to know what questions to ask- but a smart prompt session can definitely help.

  6. Would I personally stop asking advice from Doctors? no. But - unquestionably each professional - including legal ones- should stay on their toes- and keep thinking - what can I bring to the table that AI still can't.
